Introduction to Doug Wood

My name is Douglas Wood.  My training is as a physicist.  I received a PhD in Physics from Purdue University in 1984.  My thesis topic was in experimental High Energy Physics with research done at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center.

The major areas that I have worked in are in digital signal processing (image, signal, acoustic), geophysical modeling, geographical information systems and large scale distributed systems (mostly computer, but involving sensor technologies).  I am actively working in statistical modeling of extremely complex systems and information security.  I am especially interested in applications of statistics to real systems in use.

I will be setting up blogs in areas of interest to me.  Look for a blog on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) in the near future.
